A strong, heavy polyester thread with a silk-like lustre which remains soft and supple. Ideal for bold decorative stitching, manually stitched button holes and button sewing. Best results are achieved with Gütermann top stitch thread in the sewing machine needle and Gütermann Sew-all thread in the bobbin. Light green spool. TKt No. 30, Tex: 100, Dtex: 1000, 3-ply. Suggested needle size: US 16/19 (100-120).

Guterman Topstitching Thread

Although I’ve always relied on Guterman thread for its quality, and this topstitching thread is no exception, I was unable to thread my sewing machine needle as the thread was too thick. This was despite having purchased 2 different sizes of topstitching needles. Regardless of the recommended needle size of 16 (I even tried denim/canvas needles) the size of the hole remained the same and I was unable to thread the needle due to the thickness of this thread. The hunt continues for a topstitching needle that will accommodate this thick thread.
